What is Eclipse season?

Currently we are in middle of Eclipse season.

And for our ancestors this was a big deal.

Because Eclipses, for those that walked before us, heralded great doom and misfortune.

The word comes from the Greek ‘ellipsis’ which means omission or abandonment.

And this sense of desertion very much sums up their experience.

As the sudden and abrupt nature of an Eclipse meant that the sacred bond, so revered, between themselves and the Sun or Moon had been brutally broken in some way.

And this is understandable.

Because if you too lived in a culture which experienced life so entwined and in reverence of the luminaries any changes to this natural order would be deeply alarming.

And for an ancestors seeing the Full Moon turn blood red (during a Lunar Eclipse) or the Sun darken during the day (during a Solar Eclipse) was gravely troubling.

However as Eclipses are no longer unexpected they no longer hold the same message of annihilation.

And there is increasingly an understanding that Eclipses show up as pivot points.

That they are part of a great quantum leap that will dramatically move you forward in our life.

Because Eclipses herald a great ending or beginning taking place in a specific area of your life.

And while this can feel unsettling and at times overwhelming, the more you can surrender to the natural flow of life, the easier these transitions will be.

Eclipses come in pairs and while they are usually contained in a lunar cycle – their influence will ripple through your life for up to a year afterwards.

And right now you are dealing with energies of Taurus and Scorpio.

On the 30th April you had the Taurus New Moon Solar Eclipse and on the 16th May you will experience the Scorpio Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse.

And while this no doubt increases the intensity of these times.
